Library/Cultural Arts Center on the Ballot

The Columbus City Council approved moving the Columbus Library/Cultural Arts Center project forward for a third vote on April 11, 2017. The April 11th ballot question is asking for permission to issue up to $8.5 million of bonds.

Spring Hydrant Flushing and Flow Testing

The Columbus Water Utility Division will begin their Spring Hydrant Flushing & Flow Testing on Monday, April 3, 2017.

Severe Weather Awareness Week

March 27th – 31st has been designated as Nebraska Severe Weather Awareness Week. This week has been set aside as a time that can be useful in preparing your family or business for the hazards of Nebraska weather.

Spring Street Cleaning

Columbus Street Division is scheduled to start spring cleaning along Highway 81 and Highway 30 starting Monday, March 27, at 3:00 a.m. to 12 Noon, weather permitting.

Street crews will be cleaning the islands and City right-of-ways along these routes for most of the week. Drivers are encouraged to USE EXTREME CAUTION, and should anticipate lane closures and slower traffic in these areas.

Temporary Closure: Road between East Pawnee Park and West Pawnee Park

Beginning Thursday, March 23, the road between East Pawnee Park and West Pawnee Park adjacent to the Ramada Inn will be closed until further notice. The Pawnee Park trail on the levee will be closed also.

These closures are due to construction on the levee now being done in Pawnee Park.  Drivers and pedestrians are asked to use alternate routes and adhere to the street blockage restrictions.
