Local Economic Development Tools

Columbus, Nebraska embraces progress and job growth. For more than 75 years our region has been growing jobs and expanding the regional economy through effective business and employee recruitment and retention. Serving as the seat of Platte County, Columbus is a hub of industrial and commercial growth in the Northeast region of Nebraska.

Economic Development work in the area is initiated through the City, the Economic Council of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Economic Development department of Loup Public Power District. The Columbus Economic Council focuses primarily on industrial development with an emphasis on manufacturing, technology, data centers and food processing. Our industrial parks have several available sites and there are open buildings ready for occupancy.

The economic goal of Columbus is to recruit new companies of all industries, retain and expand existing companies focusing on those that are locally owned and operated, and to provide technical assistance to any and all companies and businesses that call Columbus home.

The City of Columbus has several local economic development tools that can be used for a wide variety of economic development projects, including housing, childcare, manufacturing and commercial.  More detailed information about those tools can be found by clicking on the links on the left toolbar, as well as viewing the links listed below.
