Functions
The primary function of the Engineering Department is to establish and oversee engineering design and construction standards for public improvements in the City of Columbus. The City Engineer reviews plans and specifications for construction of sanitary and storm sewers, streets, sidewalks, and other projects. The Engineering Department maintains all plat maps, zoning maps, and street maps which are available for review or may be purchased. Information may be obtained from the department regarding:
- Addressing of parcels
- City limits locations
- Easements
- Lot dimensions
- Street and Alley Information
- Traffic Counts
- Voting wards
- Water, Sanitary Sewer, and Storm Sewer sizes and locations
