In loom of predicted wintery weather this weekend, the City of Columbus Public Works Department is reminding the public to use caution on the roads.
Rain and snow showers with the potential for strong winds are predicted to begin on Saturday morning throughout Northeast Nebraska, according to the National Weather Service based out of Omaha/Valley. It also could result in freezing drizzle.

Please be advised the following newly constructed or replaced road surfaces and any approaching intersections will not have any deicing or winter salt control applied to the surface due to the surface being newly constructed.
"Crews will apply a sand/crushed stone material on surfaces when needed,” City Public Works Director said. “Please use caution and slow down when on the listed roads.”
The following roads to be especially mindful of as they will not be treated due to recent/ongoing construction:
-Highway 30 from 18th Avenue to East 14th Avenue (this is also known as 23rd Street).
-48th Avenue from 15th Street to 38th Street.
-36th Street from 50th Avenue to 48th Avenue
-40th Avenue from 27th Street North into Prairie Village Retirement home.
-Alley north of the New Community Building, 2500 14th St.
Signage will be posted as you enter areas.
