Crews will be in Columbus repairing Union Pacific Railroad Company tracks during the next several weeks.
The repairs involve installation of new ties and ballast at the following crossings: 21st Avenue, 18th Avenue, 17th Avenue, 12th Avenue, 3rd Avenue and East 14th Avenue. The work is expected to begin June 6 at the west end of the project limits working east as progress is made. Signage warning of the closed crossings will be in place prior to the work beginning. Crossings at 23rd Avenue and 26th Avenue may be impacted during the early stages of the repair as the track replacement train extends approximately two blocks - motorists are asked to use caution and observe directions provided by flagmen at these crossings.
The work is expected to be completed by June 20 inside the city limits. The repair of the crossings at East 29th and East 44th Avenue, outside the city limits, will begin on or about June 16.
