1. Who do I call for a water or sewer emergency? If I have a water leak or sewer backup will the City fix it?

Contact the Water Department for 24 hour service at (402) 562-4220. The City of Columbus maintains the water and sewer mains. The water or sewer service that runs from your home or business to the water or sewer main is the responsibility of the home or business owner. If the leak or blockage is in the city main, the city will repair or clean the city main.

2. How can I tell if I have a water leak in my home or business?

You can easily tell if there is water leaking in the residence. Turn off all the water sources, if the red dial on the top of the meter is not moving there is no leak. If the dial is turning, you have a leak in your home or business.
